Grand Jersey Hotel and Spa

Dear all,

I hope you all are well and are enjoying the mild winter we are experiencing on the “warmest place in the British Isles”. We at Grand Jersey are extremely busy getting prepared for the season although in what is usually a quiet period the girls in the office are complaining that the phones haven’t stopped! I really enjoy it when they moan as this is when I know we should be expecting a busy time. Sorry girls! In all seriousness our team in the sales office and the front line guys headed by Nathan have done a brilliant job over the past two months and their work has to be acknowledged, thank you guys.

We have completed the transformation of our Michelin starred Tassili where we will be offering a great lunch package on Thursday and Fridays. The normal opening times from Tuesday to Saturday are now back in effect so to avoid disappointment please book early. For all you love birds don’t forget Valentines Day is around the corner we are hosting dinners in Victorias and Tassili on the Saturday and Tuesday to celebrate this occasion.

One other key event in February for your diaries is the 25th. The brilliant guys from Jersey Live, Warren & Warren, have eventually got John Digweed here and we are thrilled that the guys are hosting the event at Grand Jersey. Please please get your tickets early as they will go very quickly. You can get tickets from the Jersey Live website or if you want to stay over for the event our team at Grand Jersey can look after you.

I took the HOD team off on a tracking night with the enigmatic Fergus Mc Devitt who does all our outdoor pursuits with guests. So the brief was to meet at Grand Jersey on a quiet bit very cold and windy night and the only thing they could bring with them was a toothbrush and warm clothes! We dropped the guys off at a remote point and Fergie informed us of our mission. We had to get from St Johns to a remote Fort on the island before nightfall. The team work and craic on getting there was excellent. I was sure that I knew what a great team I work with but after doing this with the guys it was clear what a great bunch they are.

Richard (Our Exec Chef) hobbled in the atrocious conditions the whole hike, Adelina and Tam even though they weren’t use to this type of activity came through in flying colours. My right and left arm in the business are Andy and Jane (HR & SM) one cooked a pot of stew my mother would be proud of assisted of course by Hugo (If they cut Hugo open they would find the emblem of Grand Jersey on his chest!). Wee Jane was ill and pulled herself out of her death bed to join in the night. We also had an Irish Trad musician in the fort to play the guitar through the night for a proper Irish sing song by a blazing fire! Nothing to do with me!!  We had a great night when a team of people can stay the night together with a fire, music, stew and wine in a 300 year old fort they can go through anything together. Thanks guys it was a memorable night.

I hope to see you at Grand Jersey soon take care for now and all the very best.

Eamonn
