As the Personal Trainer here at The Grand, it is my responsibility to look after the fitness centre and all of those who frequent in and out of it on a daily basis.
My client base is currently in the region of 30 plus individuals who train on a daily/weekly/fortnightly basis and keep me busy seven days a week!
A typical day for myself can start as early as 7.00am where I will conduct my 1hr Personal training session of the day. I then have a short break before carrying out mid morning, lunchtime and early evening, running into night time sessions. I will generally finish at 8.30pm in order to cater for the after work market and usually have 7 customers a day. I then follow up each session with my administration work and make a note of what the client did during his/her session. Diet plans may also be incorporated into this if the client desires.
I genuinely love my job and the people I train are the reason I work such sporadic hours. I get to know my clients on a personal level and most would tell you, that while I can talk pretty much solidly for sixty minutes, it takes their focus off the exercises they are carrying out and allows their session to run smoothly and quickly! I believe that client relationships are key focus in the job i do and having a solid level of rapport and trust between both client and trainer, paves the way for better results.
Currently I am in the process of training an individual who has lost 5 and 1/2 stones in weight and has managed to out their diabetes type II into remission. This has not been an easy task to achieve as it has required a complete lifestyle change for this person as well as hard work, discipline, drive and determination to get to the level they are now. Having said that, seeing someone that you not only class as client, but as a friend, achieve what they set out to do fills me with great pride and makes all those hours in the gym worth while!
