Hosting the 'great and the good' since 1890

No sooner had the Grand Jersey welcomed its first guests in June1890, than it became one of the most fashionable venues on the island.

Over the years, it has played host to many of the 'great and the good', including the Queen, before and after she ascended the throne, Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother.

During the Nazi occupation, the hotel echoed to the stamp of German boots, and after liberation by the British in 1945, the Grand was restored to its original purpose as a 4 star hotel.

Since then, ownership of the Grand has changed hands several times. In 1950, the founding English Company was liquidated and the Jersey Company formed. In 1976 Channel Hotels and Properties took over, and the Grand was in private and corporate ownership until its acquisition in 2006 by Hilwood Resorts & Hotels.
